Western Clifton Park Generic Environmental Impact Statement

The Western Clifton Park GEIS addressed a full scope of development issues that this area of town may face in the future. The primary mitigation measure is the implementation of the Land Conservation Plan. The plan includes the adoption of new zoning to address density and measures to help to secure funding and agreements for permanent conservation easements. CHA provided data development services as part of a Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS) for a 13,900 acre study area in the western portion of the town. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology was used extensively throughout the project in order to model development alternatives, visualize the impacts of planning decisions, identify land use opportunities, and produce informative maps and reports. CHA utilized ArcInfo and CommunityViz to explore a wide range of buildout scenarios and perform spatial analysis functions that were presented to town leaders and community members.
